How robots plan steps and try to anticipate physical motion.

Google opens a cloud planning layer for robot tasks

A request like 'find the box and bring it here' hides many decisions. A robot must choose a route, pick up the object and check whether each step succeeded. On October 27, Google Cloud announced public-preview access to Gemini Robotics Embodied Reasoning 2, a high-level model that plans these steps and calls separate robot-control programs.

Can a robot predict how the scene will move?

When you watch a ball move, you can imagine where it will be a moment later. A robot has a harder version of that problem: it needs to anticipate both the image and the geometry of motion. WorldFlow, introduced on October 29, predicts future video frames and the trajectories of selected points in three-dimensional space.
